OUT THERE FRINGE FEST
18 SEPT - 17 OCT
Out There Fringe Fest returns to Exeter for four consecutive weeks across September and October 2026, following the award-winning success of its inaugural festival in 2024. The first edition welcomed 1,300 attendees, with 40 events delivered by more than 50 practitioners.
Out There Fringe Fest was created in response to rising hostility towards LGBTQIA+ communities and the loss of safe spaces. Our communities deserve spaces to be seen, celebrated, connected and represented.
Our team, made up of a small group of creatives and practitioners who are passionate about arts and culture, have put together a programme of more than 50 events for you to experience. The festival showcases national talent alongside local LGBTQIA+ artists and creatives, celebrating Exeter’s reputation as a leading city of culture.
The exciting line-up of national talent also includes Drag King Don One (Late Night Lycett), and two-time Fringe First Award winner Emma Frankland, who brings their acclaimed show No Apologies to Exeter.
Especially for the festival, Out There have worked in collaboration with Princesshay Exeter and award-winning Brighton-based photographer Chris Jepson, to bring Brighton's UNCUT: A CELEBRATION OF QUEER JOY exhibition to Exeter's City Centre. The exhibition features portraits and first-person accounts celebrating queer joy from members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
And after four weeks of outrageous entertainment and talent. The festival concludes with its EXTRAVAGANZA club night, headlined by Danny Beard - one of the UK’s best-known drag performers, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Series 4 and runner-up on Celebrity Big Brother 2025. Joining Danny is Harrison, the breakthrough DJ behind the viral rework of “All The Things She Said”, which featured in the hit TV series Heated Rivalry.
